The suburb has many older styled brick veneered and weatherboard homes. The suburb is blessed with huge acreage blocks, open green spaces and lots of hills. It is an area that is restricted to subdivisions, which is what provides Warrandyte with its quiet atmosphere.

Warrandyte Primary School was established in 1862 to accommodate the growing population attracted to the first Victorian gold discovery. The school educates children from prep foundation through to grade six.
