Never before have we spent so much time at home. The impact of covid-19 has certainly impacted what we do and where we do it. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Here are some tips on keeping busy during home isolation.
Lets get creative with arts and crafts
We all have natural instincts to create. In fact it’s the only thing we really do. Take this home isolation to become more creative. It can be as basic as colouring in, drawing or painting. But there is more to arts and crafts. You can create a scrap book, photo album or even ,make some gift cards.
Lets get cooking
Food is the way to many hearts. We love to eat and try new foods, but cooking can sometime be difficult when we are time poor. Home isolation has slowed our livelihood down. Now is a great time to learn how to cook something new!
You can bake a cake, cook a pie or create a Thai stir fry. Cooking can be lots of fun, especially with family. You and the kids can make some cookies or cup cakes and decorate them! For others, once you master some cooking skills, it can become quite zen. A way to entertain yourself without distraction.
Go buy a cook book from a store or go online through ebay. or gumtree.
It’s time to exercise
There are many great training videos and programs that can get you sweating this winter. With burpees, frog jumps, push ups and mountain climbers you can easily burn some calories at home.
If you want to get out for a bit, a bike ride or run is an excellent way to get some exercise in during home isolation.
If you are a member of a tennis club, this is a really nice way to exercise and have fun.
It’s time to read
Reading is a wonderful way to appreciate some down time. With the Melbourne winter underway, rug up on the coach and enjoy a book. If you are into fantasy, biography, science or fiction, reading is a great escape and a great way to enjoy some extra home isolation.
Reading can be done with a book, on a device such as an android or iPad or a computer. As many are working from home while we work through the covid-19 pandemic, a book is a better way to get away from technology.
Catch up on your favourite TV show
If we can’t go anywhere, there are great streaming channels available. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Stan to name a few. Now is a good time to catch up on your favourite show with guilt!
A great family movie is also a really nice way to snuggle up to your children.
Lets learn more
There are many online courses where you can extend your skills in the work force. While in home isolation, you can take advantage of that extra time and study something new. There are so many choices available, you don;t have to go to university!
Board games
Board games is a nice way to interact with the family. It really puts people in a good mood, while using our brains.
There are also many board games played on line. This is a great option if you live alone.
