  • Sustainability – Environmentally friendly and energy efficient, concrete flooring is excellent at retaining and releasing heat.

Concrete floor types

There are many types and colour schemes. Some of the more popular finishes right now are:

  • Polished Concrete – Polyurethane coating: Polished concrete also known as polyurethane coating is one of the more popular types at present. It can be done with a partial or full grind that reveals the aggregate within the poured concrete slab. This appearance can be quite different as you grind further into the concrete slab, while it can be further created by the colours of the aggregate used.

  • RetroPlate: The RetroPlate has emerged to give owners the benefits of coating without ever having to reapply. It is features abrasion resistance, impact strength and low maintenance.

  • Burnished Concrete: Burnished concrete is when the concrete floor is very lightly cut and polished. This is different to polished concrete that is ground to reveal the natural concrete. It provides a hard-wearing finish with a surface lustre. By cleaning and sealing it, it can present quite well. It is less durable and can leave stains and marks as apposed to polish finishes. Something to keep in mind.
