How to create a cheap study space. In the wake of the global pandemic, many people have reverted to working from home. Depending on your home, a productive work space is never the same as another.

In this market insight we share some ideas on how you can create a study space that is affordable and quite functional.

Find a location

A study space does not need to be large. Many properties have various unused areas that may appear in a master bedroom, hallway, entrance or even in the kitchen/living area. When looking for a study space, try to find something that will attract some good natural light, and will make you feel comfortable. You can only work with what you have in your home, but in our personal experiences, its best to avoid creating a study space in a master bedroom. You may only spend time sleeping in your room, but its best to separate your personal/work space. When the warmer season kicks in, you can also consider working outside. Apartments offer private balconies, while houses and townhouse will feature an alfresco our outdoor entertaining area.

When choosing a space, consider what type of person you are. If you are easily distracted, having a study space next to your television will be a bad move. Rather than working productively, you may find yourself watching Netflix or playing video games!

Set up an office desk

Creating a custom desk can be the most expensive way to go about it, but you will be surprised to find many types of desks online. You may also walk through a show room to get a more tangible perspective. You can buy a desk on a relatively low budget, but you may also want shelves or draws. There are many workstations that are quite diverse, but to keep the price low, you can buy a monitor stand which offers some drawer space to file paperwork or even pack up your laptop when not using it.

There are some innovative monitor stands that can come off the wall, but you can also find stands that offer a wireless charger for your other devises.

When choosing a desk, make sure you consider an office chair to support your back. There are also many stand up desks if you prefer to work in this way.

Get some accessories to advance your productivity

There are many great accessories from a wireless mouse and keyboards, to mobile phone holders. If you spend some time online, you’ll find many great ways to work in a confined space without the clutter.
