Apartment living in Australia, most notably in Melbourne and Sydney have become widely popular for many reasons. In recent years, the inclusion of internal amenities have increased the appeal. They also provide low maintenance living, many located in blue chip suburbs and they can be more affordable than buying a house.
Given the popularity of Apartment living, you’ll be surprised what a modern architecturally designed Apartment can look like. The days of high-rises, tall glass buildings and outdated colour schemes are no more.
At Crest Property Investments, we have been fortunate to see some fine buildings. In this Market Insight, we take the opportunity to share some modern internal amenities.
Private balconies
New modern Apartments offer each unit their very own private balcony. Some with incredible views, while others north facing. It’s a great entertaining area that extends from their internal open floor plan.
Ground courtyards
You may be surprised, but many Apartments feature ground floor units which have their own private courtyard. Many residents feel they are occupying a Townhouse rather than an Apartment. It’s a great outdoor area to relax and entertain. It’s also great if you have young kids or pets.
Roof top terraces
A roof top terrace is a communal area where residents can admire the view from the top of the building. Depending on the location, you may get captivating views if the city or the Dandenong mountains.
A roof top terrace can also feature other amenities such as a garden terrace, cinema, teppanyaki bbq and swimming pool to name a few.
With the assistance of the owners corporation, residents can also book the roof top terrace out to celebrate their birthday or family function.
Garden terraces
A garden terrace can be included on a roof top terrace, but they are also beautiful landscaped as a communal area on the ground level. A place to feel a little relaxed, read a book or sit down and enjoy your morning coffee.
Gymnasium
An indoor gymnasium can be one of the more popular internal amenities. Depending on the size of luxury of the Apartment building, the size can vary. Most have the usual needs including a treadmill, tower and some weights, but we have seen some great facilities.
Business centres
Some inner city building have some small spaced business centres. These can include WiFi, meeting rooms and projector screens.
Yoga and well-being centres
A yoga studio can be part of a gymnasium but they can offer residents scheduled yoga classes with a variety of different styles. These are less common, but they have been making a more common appearance in recent years.
Spa and swimming pools
Potentially the most expensive of all the internal amenities to keep maintained. These can be both indoor or outdoor. Some of these can be quite luxurious with a curated surrounding to make you feel you are on holidays.
Cafes and restaurants
This may or may not be seen as an internal amenity. This is because they are usually assessable to both residents and the public. Many new Apartment buildings often have these places on the ground floor with the residential units built above.
Car wash
This is one of the more new added internal amenities. We’ve seen allocated car washes in the secured car basement. That would be very convenient.
Apartment internal amenities
Not all of these amenities are in the one building, However many can be included. Most of these internal amenities are featured in larger scaled Apartments. Boutique buildings don’t usually include many internal amenities, other than private balconies and ground courtyards. They may also have a garden or top terrace.
