For some, working from home is living the dream, while others may find it very difficult and avoid it. With Covid-19 upon us, we have had to change our daily routines. Here are some working tips from home that will make you more productive:
Establishing a work routine at home
Working from home can lead to many distractions. Watching a movie on Netflix, playing computer games, indulging in lunch or even cooking. For others, having easy access to work can lead to extend hours and a loss of home life. Establishing a work routine and committing to a schedule will help you separate work time to home time. It will provide you with a better attention span, more productivity and a happier work environment.
Developing a home working environment
Most would work more productively in an office environment. Some are fortunate to have a dedicated work space.
Many and not so fortunate and have limited work space, using their dining table or perhaps their bedroom.
If you don’t have a remote working space, look to set up a desk somewhere which is solely used to conduct work. This may help create some separation between home and work.
You can purchase some great office equipment and supplies from places such as Officeworks and Ikea.
Take regular breaks (including lunch)
It is easy once you get in the right working mode to lose track of time. As you would working for someone else, set up a routine break including some time for lunch. As you are working at home, taking a walk with your dog, jumping on a bike ride or jog are great ways to having a regular break. Some may enjoy a quick stretch, a light yoga session or meditation to break up the day. This will help you appreciate your work day while making the most of your home work environment.
Enjoy some music
Put some music on… Some find it a distraction, while others find it removes other distractions, but you may enjoy something in the background to keep you enthusiastic and motivated throughout the day.
