Melbourne – The most liveable city in the world. There are many research houses in the world who provide insight around economical data. The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Liveability Index ranks 140 cities each year taking note of the city’s culture, stability and environment. Melbourne has now been ranked by the EIU as the world’s most liveable city since 2011.
Vienna has been top ranked by the Mercer Quality of Living Survey since 2009, while Tokyo was ranked highest by Monocle in 2015.
The EIU ranks each city a total score out of 100 for stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. Housing affordability is not considered. The EIU also rank Melbourne as one of the top 20 most expensive cities in the world.
Our other Australian cities fared well in the rankings with Adelaide fifth and Perth seventh. Sydney fell out of tenth spot to eleven.
